We kicked this tournament season off with Den of the Tiger’s Henry Fought Memorial Youth Tournament. With nearly ten schools attending and over one-hundred competitors, the day was long and the competition was fierce. Our students did very well against skilled competitors from all over Ohio and parts of Indiana. We had seven students make the two hour trek to face off against stiff competition in sparring, forms, sumo (a game where you try to push your opponent out of a squared off ring), sword fighting, an intense balance game, and a speed kicking competition. As always, we are very proud of our students! I got plenty of complements about their skill and showmanship! Of course, their endeavors would not be possible without the support of their parents. So, a special thanks to our parents, and the parents and families of our competition for supporting your children, and in turn, making great events like this possible.
We’d like to thank Sensei Jack Fought and Den of the Tiger for their friendship, and hosting such a great tournament. We’d also like to thank 540 Martial Arts, I know they helped out a lot in terms of organizing and running the tournament. And, thanks to all the other schools who attended. All the instructors were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, and the competitors showed great skill and showmanship!
