Big Brother/Big Sister Night at Young Forest Martial Arts

We recently hosted a Big Brother/Big Sister night at Young Forest Martial Arts. One of Sifu Berry’s passions is mentoring others; especially youth. “There are  a lot of children and young adults out there that don’t have a lot – if any – strong, positive role models. As someone who grew up without a lot of strong role models, especially male role models, I’ve made it my mission in life to be one. It’s one of the things that guided me to being a martial arts school owner and instructor. And, it’s what guided me to join the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program.” Big Brothers/Big Sisters is an organization that pairs adults with children (of all ages) that need positive role models in their lives. The pairs are always looking for fun activities to do together, and we were excited when Sifu Berry told us we are hosting the event. We had a few pairs and a few extra children. These children are still waiting to be paired with a positive adult role models. Here at Young Forest Martial Arts, we believe it takes a community to raise a child, especially children from broken homes, or homes where the parents have to work a lot; or sometimes, an only child who needs a little more than good loving parents – they need a Big Brother or Big Sister.
